Brentwood’s “EmpowerHer” Celebration Inspires the Next Generation of Women Leaders Students connect with mentors, build confidence, and explore pathways to leadership and success
BRENTWOOD, NY (March 2026) — The Brentwood Union Free School District, in partnership with Girls Inc. of Long Island and Girls United hosted its second annual EmpowerHer Celebration, bringing together middle and high school students for a transformative day focused on leadership, sisterhood, and personal growth.
The summit created a dynamic space where young women engaged with accomplished leaders, participated in hands-on workshops, and explored pathways to future success. Designed to build confidence and expand possibilities, the event connected students with mentors who reflect the diverse experiences and aspirations of the next generation.
“This event is about helping girls see what’s possible—and equipping them with the confidence and support to pursue it,” said Dr. Pat Charlemagne, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Long Island. “When girls are surrounded by strong role models and meaningful opportunities, they begin to envision themselves as leaders.”
The program featured an inspiring lineup of speakers and facilitators from across industries. Mistress of Ceremonies Dailisha Rodriguez, Executive Director of the Hey There Beautiful Foundation and national motivational speaker, guided the day’s programming with energy and purpose.
Keynote speaker Minué Yoshida, CEO of Yoshida Academy, shared her journey as a multicultural entrepreneur and author, offering powerful insights on resilience, identity, and leadership.
Students also heard from Dr. Mica Rencher, Dean of Benjamin Franklin College at Yale University, who spoke about her path through academia and entrepreneurship, encouraging participants to pursue bold and ambitious goals.
Throughout the day, students participated in interactive workshops and discussions designed to strengthen leadership skills, foster peer connection, and reinforce the importance of community and mentorship.
The EmpowerHer Celebration reflects a shared commitment among Brentwood schools, Girls Inc. of Long Island, and community partners to invest in girls’ leadership development and ensure they are prepared to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
Girls Inc. of Long Island continues to provide programs that inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, equipping them with the tools and support needed to succeed in school, career, and life.
