Women United Brings Together Community Leaders to Inspire Mentorship and Impact Across Long Island
Panel discussion and volunteer event supports young women through leadership dialogue and community giving
LONG ISLAND, NY (March 2026) — Women United hosted its second volunteer event in partnership with Moxxie Mentoring Foundation, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, and Girls Inc. of Long Island, bringing together more than 60 women and several young leaders for an evening focused on mentorship, leadership, and service.
The event featured a dynamic panel discussion on the importance of mentorship and creating pathways for girls to lead and thrive. Among the panelists was Dr. Pat Charlemagne, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Long Island, who joined fellow leaders in sharing insights on empowering the next generation of strong female leaders.
“Mentorship is not just about guidance—it’s about creating access, building confidence, and ensuring that girls see themselves reflected in leadership,” said Dr. Charlemagne. “When we invest in girls, we strengthen entire communities.”
Following the discussion, participants engaged in a hands-on volunteer activity, assembling 200 personal care kits. The kits were donated back to each of the four organizations who will then distribute them with their communities of girls. The initiative provided both immediate support and a meaningful opportunity for participants to give back.
The evening highlighted the power of collaboration among organizations committed to advancing opportunities for girls. Through shared resources and collective effort, partners demonstrated how community-driven initiatives can create both immediate and lasting impact.
“We are grateful to every volunteer and supporter who made this event possible,” said event organizers. “Even those who could not attend play a role in fueling this work and expanding its reach.”
Notably, through the generosity of partners, the cost of hosting the event was equivalent to just one annual new membership—underscoring how collective support can drive significant impact.
Girls Inc. of Long Island continues to work alongside community partners to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, providing programs and experiences that equip them to succeed in school, career, and life.
