Girls Inc. of Long Island’s annual Spring Empowerment Conference is a dynamic, full-day experience designed for middle and high school girls who are ready to grow as Strong, Smart, and Bold leaders.
Spring Empowerment brings together girls from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties for a day of connection, learning, and inspiration. Designed for girls in grades 6–12, this signature event creates a supportive space where girls can build confidence, develop practical skills, and envision new possibilities for their futures. Through interactive workshops, group discussions, and hands-on activities, girls explore topics that reflect their needs and experiences—from self-worth and purpose to communication, friendships, and conflict resolution. A highlight of the conference is Career Speed Mentoring, where girls connect directly with professionals from a variety of industries, gaining insight into different career pathways and the journeys that lead there. The conference helps girls strengthen self-awareness, build healthy relationship and communication skills, and expand their understanding of what is possible for their education, careers, and lives.
What Girls Will Experience
Middle School Breakout Workshops
In rotating small-group sessions, participants explore:
- • Knowing Your Worth – Understanding self-respect and how it shapes behavior and choices
- • Standards & Boundaries – Defining personal standards and learning how to uphold them
- • Owning Your Voice – Speaking up with confidence and navigating disagreement respectfully
- • Navigating Friendship & Betrayal – Managing relationship challenges while honoring your values
High School Breakout Workshops
Participants focus on real-world communication and life skills:
- • Communicating with Confidence – Practical tools for handling conflict with peers, partners, friends, and family
- • Bold Life Skills Workshop – An interactive session connecting essential life skills with career readiness and professional growth
Career Speed Mentoring
The day concludes by connecting with women leaders from diverse industries to practice professional communication and explore career pathways.
Hot Topic Reflection Sessions
Girls return to small groups to reflect on what they’ve learned and create a personal action plan. Through guided discussion, participants identify specific goals and next steps to apply their new skills in real-life situations.
