Sharen Cox Phillips, New Board Chair of Girls Inc. of Long Island

DEER PARK, NY January 2026 — Girls Inc. of Long Island (GILI) is proud to announce the appointment of Sharen Cox Phillips as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. A dedicated champion of equity and long-standing supporter of the organization, Sharen steps into this leadership role to guide GILI into its next chapter of empowering young women across the region.

Sharen currently serves as the Director of News Partnerships at Google, where she leads strategic relationships with national media organizations. Her leadership is backed by over 30 years of experience in marketing strategy and business development at media giants like Prodigy Internet, Time Inc., and Cox Media. She further extends her expertise as an ICF-certified leadership coach and the COO of Genesis Signs and Graphics.

As Sharen assumes this role, Girls Inc. of Long Island also celebrates the incredible legacy of outgoing Board Chair, Samantha Persaud. Under Samantha’s dedicated leadership, GILI expanded its reach and deepened its impact on the lives of girls across Long Island. Samantha’s journey continues as she moves into a prestigious role on the Girls Inc. National Board of Directors.
