Imagine, Empower, Lead
Join Us As We Change the World...One Girl at a Time!

Girls Incorporated® of Long Island has been active since 2009 providing programs to over 1,000 girls, ages 11-18. We are at the heart of girls lives and at the forefront of the girl's rights movement. With programs grounded in research and tested in their field, our organization celebrates and empowers girls and advocates for an equitable world. Our programs deliver informal, engaging, age-appropriate information to help girls develop the skills and self-confidence necessary to navigate successfully through the challenges of growing up female in today's society.

Our programs are available to schools and youth organizations to help girls confront subtle social messages about their value and potential, and prepare them to lead successful, independent, and fulfilling lives. During 2011, we provided over 250 girls with two of Girls Inc.’s most popular programs:

Economic Literacy®, a program designed to teach girls to manage money, invest, and begin to develop an appreciation for global economics. As girls explore how the economy affects everyone locally and globally, they develop skills critical to being financially savvy and to becoming economically independent adults.

Friendly PEERsuasion®, a curriculum targeting girls 11-14 designed to assist them in the development of skills to resist pressure to use harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, household chemicals, and other drugs. After learning healthy ways to manage stress and to deflect peer, media, and other pressures that contribute to substance abuse, girls become peer educators (PEERsuaders) for younger girls.

New for 2012:

Girls Inc. Operation SMART®
Girls develop enthusiasm for and skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Programs to include: Thinking Smart, linking girls to professionals (particularly women) in the STEM fields.

All our programs have the flexibility to be offered over the course of the school year, a few sessions, or in a one-time session. We work with our collaborating partners to tailor each program to meet their needs.
