Girls Inc. programs, based on research gathered at the Girls Inc. National Resource Center, encourage girls ages 6 to 18 to take risks and master physical, intellectual, and emotional challenges. Programs are facilitated by trained professional staff. The program mission of Girls Inc. of Long Island was launched during the 2007-2008 school year with the implementation of a Girls Inc. Friendly PEERsuasion® program, a two-part substance abuse prevention program, in the Central Islip school district, in partnership with the Urban League of Long Island and the Central Islip Union Free School District. The project was funded by a grant awarded to GILI by the American Association of University Women Educational Foundation. Girls Inc. of Long Island plans on introducing the full Girls Inc. programming into our local communities as we grow. Girls Inc. Economic Literacy® Girls Inc. Friendly PEERsuasion® Girls Inc.
